Yoga means union. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root 'yuj', meaning 'to join' or 'to yoke' or 'to unite’. This union embodies the harmonious coexistence between our body, mind and emotions.
Yoga is an ancient discipline designed to bring balance and health to the physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions of the individual. To achieve this, we use among other practices, physical postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama).
Hatha yoga
The meaning of the word “ha” is the sun and “tha” is the moon. “Hatha” is a practice that aspires to balance these two energies that reside within ourselves. To achieve that we give our body and mind time to breath and deepen our awareness while maintaining each asana.
Vinyasa yoga
Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic practice that links movement and breath to attain balance in the mind and body. In this practice we align a deliberate sequence of poses with the breath to achieve a continuous flow, thus establishing a connection between each movement.
Aerial Yoga
Aerial Yoga is a type of yoga combining traditional yoga poses with the use of a hammock. Through a playful approach, the whole body strengthens and stretches and the spine decompresses as the body hangs freely.
Gentle Hatha
Gentle Hatha Yoga is a mild practice, an ideal approach to musculoskeletal pain. During the class we try different asanas adjusted to the needs of each individual, with the use of yoga props such as bricks, belts, pillows and blankets.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a slow paced practice, suitable for practitioners of all levels. By paying attention to our breath and becoming aware of any sensations or thoughts that may arise, we activate our parasympathetic nervous system, and thus our bodies and minds enter gradually in a process of self-healing and recovery. Through the uses of props for support, we hold the yoga poses for a longer duration almost effortlessly.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a practice that emphasises on the meditative aspect of yoga, combining principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with asanas. We can practice sequences of poses that directly target areas of the physical body, as well as specific meridian lines. By holding the pose for longer periods of time, deep tissue and joints are stimulated and the body is deeply stretched.
Υoga practice takes place in small groups.
